Data Protection: ICICI Bank UK PLC (the Bank, ICICI Bank) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Policy together with the Bank's Website Terms of Use [(and any other documents referred to on it)] sets out the basis on which any personal information ("your information") we collect from you or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal information and how we will treat it. For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 ("the Act") ICICI Bank is the data controller of your information.

In this Policy "Group" means the ICICI Bank Limited group of companies which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries. [our information] may be stored on a Group database and may be used by us and any Group company for the purposes set out below.

We may change the content or services found on our website at any time without notice and consequently this Policy may change at any time in the future. Any changes we may make to this Policy in the future will be posted on this page and where appropriate, notified to you by email. You agree to re-visit this page regularly and your continued access to or use of our website will mean that you agree to the changes.

"Your information" Includes any information which we or any Group company holds and processes now or at any time in the future and which comes from or relates to:

  • Applications made to us or any Group company including information you provide by filling in forms on our website. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our website, subscribing to our services, posting material or requesting further services;
  • Dealings with us or any Group company;
  • Third parties (such as, credit reference agencies, fraud prevention agencies or other third parties associated with you);
  • Products and services supplied to you by us or any Group company;
  • Your account(s), including the way you use and manage your account(s);
  • Your transactions (including details of the goods or services and the supplier to which the transaction relates) and the payments which are made to and from your account(s) (including the method by which made such payments are made e.g. by card or other non-cash method);

We and other Group companies will access, use and analyze your information for the following purposes:

  • To manage, maintain and develop our relationship with you;
  • To consider any applications made by you;
  • To manage your account(s);
  • To give you statements and provide our services;
  • To make financial risk assessments including money laundering checks and for fraud prevention purposes;
  • To meet our regulatory compliance and reporting obligations;
  • Unless you have indicated otherwise on your application form to provide you with information in relation to products, services and events of both Group companies and third parties which ICICI Bank considers may be of interest to you. (If you do not want us to use your information in this way or to pass your details on to third parties for marketing purposes, please tick the relevant box situated on the Account Opening form (I/We choose NOT to be contacted by ICICI Bank, its Group Companies or Third Parties for marketing purposes by ticking this box)
  • To make credit related decisions about you;
  • For assessment and analysis purposes including behaviour scoring and market and product analysis and
  • To develop and improve our services to you.

  • To prevent crime, to verify your identity and to recover debt; and
  • To develop and improve our services to you and to notify you about changes to our services.

We will not disclose any of your information outside the Group except:

  • With your consent;
  • To credit reference and fraud prevention agencies and identity and address verification organizations who may record and use your information and disclose it to other lenders, financial services organizations and insurers. Your information may be used by those third parties to make assessments in relation to your creditworthiness for debt tracing, fraud and money laundering prevention purposes.   • To persons who act as our agents and service providers. Where we use agents and service providers this will be under a strict code of confidentiality and we will ensure that they have adequate security measures in place to safeguard your information;
  • To anyone to whom we transfer or may transfer our rights and duties under your Customer Agreement or any other agreement we enter into with you;
  • Where we are required or permitted to do so by law or regulation;
  • To third parties as part of the process of selling one or more of our businesses;
  • To carefully selected third parties so that they can contact you about products or services that they think may interest you. We will not pass your information to third parties for marketing purposes if you have indicated that you do not want us to do this at the point where you submit your information while account opening

Use of cookies

ICICI Bank may use cookies, web bugs, images, and other techniques to gather information about your general internet usage and about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration [and to report aggregate information to our advertisers]. When we obtain information about your general internet usage, we use a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive. They help us to improve our website and to deliver a better and more personalized service. You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setter on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our website. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you log on to our site. Telephone banking

When you call the telephone banking service, we will verify your identity by asking you a number of questions based on information known to us about you and the transactions on your account. We will let you know if we record your telephone conversation with us.

Customer email and internet communication

We may communicate with you via electronic mail (e-mail) however under no circumstances will we ask you for your password or account number. We are committed to keep your information confidential at all times. Retention and disposal of data and output

We both retain and dispose of data and output in accordance with the Act and the requirements of external regulatory authorities and our policy on record maintenance and retention.

Storage of your personal information

We treat data in electronic format or hardcopy containing your information as strictly confidential and we ensure it is subject to access controls when it is in our possession and during transportation and disposal.

The Group has established a general privacy policy and program for its operations worldwide that ensures the protection of your information. Furthermore, we will deal with your information in accordance with the Act.

Your information may be transferred to and stored by Group companies and/or third parties at a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). Your information may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in the fulfillment of your order, the processing of your payment deals and the provision of support services. By submitting your information you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. Such countries may not have laws to protect your information. If your information is transferred to or stored by a Group company or third party located outside the EEA, we will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that such Group Company or third party agrees to apply similar levels of protection to those we are required to apply to information held in the United Kingdom and to use your information only for the purpose of providing the service to us and in accordance with this Policy.

All information you provide to us is stored in our secure servers. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transfer of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Access to your information

You may correct factual errors in your information or request that we remove information about you from our records by sending us a request detailing the error. To protect your privacy and security, we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access to your information or making the requested alterations.
